Buyer agreement

In plain English

A written contract between you and your buyer's agent that says what they'll do and how much they're paid. Since August 2024, you sign one before you tour homes with an agent.

Why it matters to you

The amount is negotiable, and the agreement says whether you pay any of it if the seller doesn't. Check how long it lasts, whether it's exclusive, and how you can end it. See Step 3: Choose your agent.

infoGeneral information based on the standard Georgia REALTORS® purchase contract and public guidance. Your own contract decides: read it, and ask your agent or closing attorney about anything that matters. Not legal or financial advice.
