Amendment

In plain English

A signed change to your contract. Extending a deadline, agreeing a repair credit or moving the closing date all need one, signed by both you and the seller.

Why it matters to you

Talk isn't binding. If the seller agrees on the phone to a credit or a few more days, it doesn't count until it's in a signed amendment, and your deadlines keep running until then.
